Minnesota Residents: How to Claim Your Reissued $1,300 Tax Rebate Checks

According to Marca, the Minnesota Department of Revenue is sending out 128,000 checks again that were not cashed last year, and now they’re valid for two more years. These checks are part of a big $1 billion program from a law passed in May 2023 to help people with their taxes from 2021. They were first sent out in August and September, and then again later for those who didn’t cash them.

To get this rebate, you must have lived in Minnesota for part or all of 2021 and filed either the 2021 Form M1 for income taxes or the 2021 Form M1PR for property taxes by December 31, 2022. Married couples earning $150,000 or less could get up to $520, and individuals earning $75,000 or less could get up to $260. You can also get an extra $260 for each child, up to three children, for a total maximum rebate of $780. These rebates are taxable, and you’ll need to report them when you file your federal taxes for 2023.
