According to the Sun Herald, this weekend in Mississippi, people are excited about the tax-free holiday starting early Friday morning and lasting until Sunday night. During this time, shoppers can buy certain items without paying sales tax as long as each item costs less than $100. The state’s Department of Revenue has listed what items qualify, like clothes, shoes, and school supplies, which is great for families getting ready for the new school year.

Shoppers can use store discounts and coupons to make eligible items cheaper, but some things like accessories and sports gear aren’t included. You can also buy things online or by phone and still get the tax break if you pay during the tax-free weekend. If you buy a few things under $100 each, you won’t pay sales tax, but anything over $100 will still have tax.
