9 Bills Signed into Law by Missouri Governor Mike Parson: Boosting Senior Property Tax Relief and Enhancing Public Safety

Missouri Governor Mike Parson signed nine bills into law, including measures to broaden property tax freezes for seniors and implement stricter penalties for firearm discharge in municipal limits, reflecting a commitment to legislative clarity and citizen protection.

Missouri Legislation Expands Consumer Protections and Economic Growth Initiatives

According to The Center Square, Missouri Governor Mike Parson recently signed nine new laws that bring important changes across the state. One of these laws, Senate Bill 756, adjusts how property taxes are frozen for seniors. Previously, only those getting Social Security benefits could qualify, but now, anyone aged 62 or older can benefit, including teachers who have pension plans instead.

Another significant law, Senate Bill 754, includes “Blair’s Law,” named after a child killed by gunfire in Kansas City. This law makes it stricter to fire a gun recklessly or illegally in city limits, with penalties increasing for repeat offenses. Originally part of a bill that was stopped last year due to issues, it now aims to prevent similar tragedies in the future and honor Blair’s memory.
