Black Marine Corps Veterans Who Fought in World War Passed Away
According to Military News, the two Black Marine Corps Veterans who enlisted in the service back in World War II passed away this month. According to the officials and local reports, the two Black Maine Corps veterans died within a week of each other’s death.
The article stated that the two Black Marine Corps veterans, namely Cosmas Eaglin Sr. and Nathaniel Boone, joined the Montford Point Marines during World War II and were honored for helping break the racial lines in the military.
The Black Marine Corps veterans, Nathaniel Boone passed away at 95, and just five days away from his death, the 108-year-old Cosmas Eaglin’s death followed.
Black Marine Corps Veterans Lead The Progress Towards Racial Equality
According to the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the Black Marine Corps Veterans have led the progress toward racial equality, especially Eaglin.
Black Marine Corps veterans like Eaglin and Boone were prohibited from entering the military camp without a white escort as the white officers didn’t want the two Black Marine Corps veterans in the camp.
Obama stated that despite being denied many basic rights, the two Black Marine Corps veterans committed to the country with selfless patriotism.
