Stolen Car Incident in Shelton Leads to Teenage Arrests
Shelton police swiftly responded to reports of a stolen car leading to the apprehension of four teenagers. Officers spotted a Subaru Legacy on Center Street, recognizing it as reported stolen from Southbury. They quickly alerted nearby patrols, according to the report of WFSB.
Patrol units soon located the Subaru on Shelton Avenue. They attempted to stop it but the driver evaded capture leading officers on a brief chase along Nells Rock Road. The pursuit ended when the car became disabled off-road. Three teenagers, aged 15, 16, and 19, from Hamden were found inside and detained.
Legal Proceedings and Police Commendation Following Shelton Car Theft
Evan Cummings, aged 19, posted a $10,000 bond and was released; he is expected to attend court in Derby. The 17-year-old driver, who fled the scene and hails from Hamden, also faces charges of motor vehicle larceny and is slated for a court appearance. The three juveniles involved have been released to their parents and are scheduled to appear in juvenile court.
Shelton police praised their officers for swiftly apprehending the suspects and recovering the stolen vehicle. Investigations are ongoing into the car theft and related incidents.
