Ohio Families Can Get Summer Cooling Bill Assistance from July to September
According to the Marion Star, Ohio families who need help with high cooling bills this summer can get assistance from the Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program. The Ohio Department of Development and Ohio Heartland CAC offers this help from July 1 to September 30. Families with low incomes, those who have a disconnection notice, and households with elderly members who need cooling for health reasons can get money to pay electric bills, buy air conditioners or fans, and fix central air conditioning units.
To qualify for this assistance, a family of four must have an annual income of $54,600 or less, with larger families needing to meet specific state income guidelines. Last year, the Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program aided more than 1,000 families in Crawford, Marion, and Morrow counties, demonstrating its crucial role in helping people stay cool and safe during the hot summer months.
