Allegations of Systematic Abuse: Avantae Deven Accused of Enforcing Cruel Conditions, Resulting in Tragic Deaths of Adopted Children

According to True Crime News, in Fayetteville, North Carolina a tragic case has unfolded involving Avantae Deven a 63-year-old woman facing serious charges for the alleged neglect and abuse that led to the deaths of two of her adopted children. Senior Sgt. Mickey Locklear of the Fayetteville Police Department revealed that the investigation began in November 2023 after one of the victims amidst a mental health crisis disclosed that his brother had been missing for five years and was believed to be deceased. This revelation sparked a disturbing series of revelations about the conditions within the Deven household.

According to police statements Avantae Deven had adopted five children including three boys who were siblings and two unrelated girls. Shockingly at least three of these children endured appalling conditions under her care. They were reportedly confined to small dark rooms and deprived of sufficient food. Additionally Avantae Deven allegedly enforced a cruel system where the children had to write extensive paragraphs as a means to earn their nourishment. The allegations further accuse her of mentally abusing and fatally starving her adopted son Blake Deven. Following his death she purportedly sought assistance to dismember and burn his remains in a metal burn barrel discovered on the property.
