According to FOX News, a tragic shooting occurred outside the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas leading to a fourth death over the weekend police confirmed. The incident happened shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Friday resulting in the deaths of Shirley Taylor 62, Callie Weems 23, Roy Sturgis 50, and Ellen Shrum 81. Arkansas State Police reported that 14 people were injured including 11 civilians and two police officers making it one of the state’s worst mass shootings in recent years. Shoppers and store staff described panic as gunfire erupted and emergency responders quickly arrived to help the wounded and transport them to hospitals.

Shooter in Fordyce Mass Shooting Captured After Gunfight, Community Mourns and Seeks Answers
The shooter 44-year-old Travis Eugene Posey was captured after a gunfight with police. Among the injured, seven civilians suffered various wounds with four still hospitalized including a woman in critical condition. Fordyce Police officer James Johnson 31, and Stuttgart Police officer John Hudson 24, were also injured but have been released from the hospital. Posey who had non-life-threatening injuries was treated and then taken into state police custody. He faces four counts of capital murder with more charges likely as investigations continue. Authorities are working to understand Posey’s motives and the events leading up to the shooting.
