Lauren Pazienza, a woman who killed an 87-year-old Broadway singing coach by throwing her onto a Manhattan pavement pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Wednesday and will instead serve eight years in prison.

According to the Lauren Pazienza case, the woman who is 28-year-old, cried in court as she acknowledged to attacking Barbara Maier Gustern randomly on March 10, 2022. Prosecutors said Gustern, whose students included “Blondie” star Debbie Harry, lay bleeding on a sidewalk while Pazienza walked away. She passed away five days later.
In the recent published report by Auburnpub, Gustern’s relatives, some of whom were present in court, expressed dissatisfaction with Lauren Pazienza case, in which Pazienza’s plea deal and agreed-upon prison sentence, which was a fraction of the maximum 25-year sentence she would’ve received if convicted at trial.
Pazienza, a former Long Island event planner, has been held at the city’s notorious Rikers Island jail complex since a judge rejected her bail in May 2022. She is set to be sentenced formally on September 29. Her previous time served will be applied to her sentence.
Regarding in Lauren Pazienza case, prosecutors claim Pazienza attacked Gustern after storming out of a nearby park where she and her fiance had been dining from a food stall.

In a report about Lauren Pazienza case, she had a few glasses of wine that day while celebrating a wedding countdown milestone, was unhappy because the park in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood was closing and she and her fiance were urged to leave, according to authorities.
According to Yahoo News, Pazienza approached Gustern on West 23rd Street and shoved her to the ground in what cops described as “an unprovoked, senseless attack,” as stated by prosecutors. Gustern was badly injured after being hit in the head. She passed away on March 15th.
Pazienza’s fiance told police that she told him about the episode and that Gustern “might have said something” to her, but she wasn’t sure.
