CPP Renovates Elmore Roberts Apartments in Great Falls

Community Preservation Partners (CPP) is moving forward with a $4.9 million renovation of the Elmore Roberts Apartments at Central Avenue and 6th Street in Great Falls. They presented their plan to the Montana Board of Housing in May and have been invited back for a full tax credit application this fall. The project includes upgrading 60 units with energy efficiency and safety improvements, alongside preserving ground-floor commercial spaces.

At the July 18 City Commission meeting, CPP discussed their renovation project and commissioners held a public hearing on local housing needs as required by state law for tax credit applications. No decision was made on the tax credits, but CPP is collaborating with NeighborWorks Great Falls to address community housing challenges.

CPP is seeking low-income housing tax credits from the Montana Board of Housing to finance the renovation ensuring affordable housing for another 50 years for current residents. With federal subsidies expiring soon, this project is critical to prevent rent increases that could displace many residents, according to the report of The Electric.
