According to The US Sun, Amazon has settled a lawsuit where Amazon workers claimed they were not paid enough for working overtime. The lawsuit said Amazon didn’t pay Amazon workers correctly when they got bonuses and worked extra hours. Amazon agreed to pay $3 million to settle the lawsuit, but it did not admit it did anything wrong. Amazon workers who qualify for payment will get their money soon without needing to apply.
The settlement is progressing despite the expiration of the opt-out deadline. Each Amazon employee involved in the lawsuit stands to receive approximately $565.43, though individual amounts may differ. This agreement reflects attempts to address wage disputes and promote equity within major corporations such as Amazon. A final ruling on the settlement is scheduled for September 2024, with disbursements commencing upon court approval.
