Round Rock Police Chief Urges Shooter to Surrender After Fatal Juneteenth Festival Incident
According to CBS Austin, a tragic shooting disrupted the Juneteenth festival in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday night resulting in two deaths and multiple injuries. The festival at Old Settlers Park was celebrating Juneteenth when an argument between two groups turned violent leading to gunfire. The chaos unfolded as shots were fired causing festivalgoers to flee in panic. Police described the shooter as a young Black man about 19 to 20 years old with a slim build and short dreadlocks last seen wearing a white hoodie. Despite a massive police search the suspect has not been found. Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks has appealed to the shooter to surrender emphasizing the need for justice and community peace. After nearly 17 hours the park reopened still bearing the marks of the previous night’s tragic events.

Authorities Investigate Tragic Shooting at Juneteenth Festival in Round Rock
Authorities are working to understand what led to the shooting at the Juneteenth festival in Round Rock, Texas. They are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence. Reports suggest that the two victims who died were not involved in the fight that led to the shooting. Police have not yet identified the victims but plan to do so by Monday. Fourteen people were hospitalized most have been released but some are still in stable condition. The festival had no security checkpoints raising safety concerns. Despite having 22 officers and additional security on site the effectiveness of these measures is now being questioned.
The shooting cast a shadow over the Juneteenth festival turning a joyful event into a tragedy. Performers like Paul Wall and Sean Ardoin expressed sorrow pointing out the random nature of the violence. Round Rock’s Mayor Craig Morgan and other leaders are urging the community to stay united and strong. They are also calling for improved security at public events to prevent future incidents aiming to keep celebrations both safe and enjoyable.
