Fatal Garage Confrontation: Surveillance Footage Contradicts Self-Defense Claim in Rush Trial
Prosecutors said police officers went to the home and found Bradford on the garage floor with a gunshot wound to his torso. Both Bradford and Rush rented rooms in the house but the owner did not live there. Bradford’s girlfriend, who also lived in the house, told police that she and Bradford were eating pizza in a car in the garage when Rush confronted them about being too loud. Bradford got out of the car and said they were not being noisy and that’s why the noise dispute happened.
Rush claimed he shot Bradford in self-defense, saying Bradford came at him aggressively. However, investigators found surveillance footage and audio showing that Rush went to the garage with a gun while Bradford was unarmed. This evidence led the jury to convict Rush, with the sentencing set for July 10.
