A suspected gunman linked to a deadly mass shooting in Sacramento has died while in custody, as confirmed by reports. The inmate is known as Smiley Martin passed away at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Martin, aged 29, had been held since April 20, 2022, facing charges related to the April 3, 2022, incident where six people lost their lives during a gang feud, according to the report of Fox 11.
Smiley Martin’s brother, Dandrae Martin, also faced charges in connection to the shooting. Another suspect, Mtula Payton was arrested later in Las Vegas. Martin’s death occurred during a routine cell check at the jail. Despite efforts to save him and he was pronounced dead on site.
