On May 30, 2024, Scott was given this sentence after being convicted of first-degree murder, weapon use, and tampering with evidence. Aldrick Scott Captured in Belize After Killing Ex-Girlfriend Cari Allen in Omaha
Allen was reported missing in Omaha on November 20, 2022, a day after she was last seen. Detectives soon suspected Scott and tried to contact him in Topeka, Kansas, but found out he had left the country. Scott was later captured in Belize on December 6, 2022. Her body was discovered in a shallow grave outside Topeka on December 21, 2022. Prosecutors said Scott went to Omaha and saw Allen on a date, which made him angry. A friend testified that Scott had called and messaged Allen many times that night. When Allen got home, Scott shot her in the chest, put her body in a trash bag, and tried to hide the crime by covering up bullet holes in her house. Scott’s lawyers claimed it was an accident during a fight, but Allen’s family said she didn’t own a gun. The judge told Scott at sentencing that he committed the crime because he couldn’t handle the breakup.
