Tragic Accident Claims One Life, Another Still Missing
Search Efforts Intensify Along Colorado River as Community Bands Together
According to VailDaily a rafting trip on the Colorado River took a sad turn last weekend. One man is confirmed dead and another is still missing after an accident at Yarmony Rapids. Thomas Russell 61 from Littleton, is still not found while Brent Boulter 56, from Aurora, passed away despite attempts to save him. Emergency responders are searching for Russell after they couldn’t find him. Boulter couldn’t be revived despite CPR efforts. The search involves teams scouring the river from Radium to Two Bridges, including river rangers and volunteers. Authorities ask people near Radium and Rancho Del Rio to report any information. Teams from Grand County Search and Rescue, Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and Vail Mountain Rescue are working together to bring closure to the families and improve safety measures for future river trips.

Responding to an urgent call on Saturday afternoon emergency responders were confronted with the aftermath of the rafting incident. Despite attempts at CPR Boulter couldn’t be saved prompting a shift in focus towards locating Russell who was last seen wearing a blue fishing shirt and khaki shorts without a life jacket. While a third individual managed to escape unharmed authorities initiated a joint search effort involving river rangers, wildlife officers, and volunteers from various rescue teams, spanning from Radium to the Two Bridges area.
As the search continues authorities urge those near Radium and Rancho Del Rio to remain vigilant and promptly report any relevant information. With collaborative efforts from agencies like Grand County Search and Rescue Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, and Vail Mountain Rescue, the community comes together in solidarity to confront the somber reality of this incident. Their collective aim is to provide closure to the affected families and enhance safety protocols for future river-goers underscoring the importance of preparedness and caution in outdoor recreation.
