Robert Pickton, who was 74 years old, was assaulted by another inmate on May 19 and died from his injuries. He was serving a life sentence for killing six women, crimes that shocked the nation and the world.

Police Investigation of Robert Pickton‘s Pig Farm Uncovered Remains of 33 Women
Police started investigating Robert Pickton more than 20 years ago when they searched his pig farm in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia. They found the remains or DNA of 33 women on his farm. Robert Pickton had lured these women, many of whom were sex workers or drug users, to his farm where he killed them and sometimes fed their remains to his pigs. The case drew widespread attention and criticism of the Vancouver police for not taking the disappearances seriously. Robert Pickton’s death has brought some relief to the families of his victims. Cynthia Cardinal, whose sister Georgina Papin was killed by Robert Pickton, said she feels she can now finally move on.
