Tennessee and Delaware Offer Free Diapers to Medicaid Families – Easing Financial Burdens and Promoting Child Health

According to the published article of Independent, Tennessee and Delaware want to help families by giving them free diapers through Medicaid. This will make it easier for families who struggle to buy diapers. Many families can’t afford enough diapers which can make babies sick and cause parents to miss work or school.

Tennessee families on Medicaid can get up to 100 free diapers a month for kids under two. This starts in August and comes after Governor Bill Lee and lawmakers agreed to spend $30 million on the program. Delaware new parents can get up to 80 diapers and wipes each week for the first three months after having a baby. Both states know that having enough diapers is important for families and helps keep kids healthy.

Using State Funds Over Federal Aid for Free Diapers, Food, and Healthcare Initiatives

Furthermore, these changes show that Tennessee is doing things differently with federal money. The state said no to a food program and decided to use its own money instead. Tennessee also said no to federal money for HIV prevention and treatment. Instead, they’re using state money to do these things. It is Tennessee’s way of making decisions that they think are best for their people.
