New Hampshire is very safe, reporting 16,673 crimes last year which is 12 crimes per 1,000 residents. This is much lower than the national average of 23 crimes per 1,000 people. Most crimes are nonviolent, with only a 1 in 728 chance of being a violent crime victim and a 1 in 94 chance of being a property crime victim.

Some New Hampshire cities are extremely safe. Atkinson has a very low property crime rate of 2.7 per 1,000 residents. Windham has a property crime rate of 3.5 per 1,000 residents. Londonderry has a violent crime rate 86% lower than the national average. Hanover and Durham also have low crime rates, making them very safe places to live.

Most Dangerous Cities in New Hampshire

A few cities in New Hampshire have higher crime rates. Manchester has a property crime rate of 22.4 per 1,000 residents. Rochester has 27.7 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Concord has 16.6 property crimes and 1.9 violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Littleton and Conway also have higher crime rates, with Littleton facing more violent crimes and Conway having 19.7 property crimes per 1,000 residents. Laconia has 29.6 property crimes per 1,000 residents, the second-highest in the state.
