According to the published article of Oklahoma Watch, as stated in the latest FBI data from 2022, Oklahoma now ranks 16th highest in violent crime rates among the 50 states and Washington, D.C., marking a rise since data collection began in 1979. Oklahoma recorded 420 violent crime incidents per 100,000 residents, which is above the national average of 380 per 100,000.

Oklahoma’s Violent Crime Rate Exceeds National Average

The highest rate of violent crime was found in Washington, D.C., with 812 incidents per 100,000 residents. The FBI’s definition of violent crime includes aggravated assault, robbery, intentional or accidental homicide, and rape, highlighting the severity and range of offenses impacting these statistics.
