According to Kansas.com two Kansas City Chiefs offensive linemen Wanya Morris, and Chukwuebuka Godrick, they faced legal trouble after their arrest in Johnson County on Thursday for misdemeanor marijuana possession. The arrest occurred late at night, and both players were jailed early Friday morning. Despite posting a $2,500 bond, they were released from custody on Friday. During their Friday afternoon court appearance Morris and Godrick pleaded not guilty to the charges and are set to appear in court again on May 23. Ryan S. Ginie an attorney who previously represented Chiefs player Justyn Ross handles the legal proceedings for Morris and Godrick. While the Chiefs organization confirmed awareness of the charges against the players they declined further comment. Morris a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft was expected to vie for the team’s left tackle position. Meanwhile, Godrick, originally from Nigeria and part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program brings diversity to the team’s roster.
