Analyzing the prevalence of violent crimes against individuals and study delved into various crime categories including homicide, kidnapping, human trafficking, sex offenses, and assaults. Employing a weighted metric system with homicide offenses carrying the highest weight at 50%, Nevada emerged as the top state for the highest incidence of crimes against people. New Mexico and Arkansas followed closely behind painting a concerning picture of safety in certain regions of the country.

Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, New York, Hawaii, and Massachusetts were among those highlighted for their robust gun regulations hinting at a potential relationship between gun control and crime prevention strategies.

With 48,830 total gun deaths recorded in 2021, marking the highest yearly total on record concerns about gun violence have escalated.
