Fatal Attack in Huntington: Cordova Admits Guilt in Tragic Incident
The Huntington community mourns as 54-year-old Candelario Cordova admits guilt for manslaughter and attempted murder. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney somberly announced Cordova’s admission of guilt on May 14 shedding light on the chilling events of February 16, 2023, that led to one man’s death and his wife’s severe injury, according to the crime report of True Crime Daily.
According to prosecutors, the day started like any other for 58-year-old Roque Cisneros and Cordova, his friend and coworker. They were at Cisneros’ home when Cordova unexpectedly took control of their SUV driving away with Cisneros still inside.
Cordova’s sudden stop signaled the start of a frightening escalation. He retrieved a knife from his car’s trunk and attacked Cisneros inflicting multiple stab wounds. Cisneros’ wife tried to intervene, but she faced Cordova’s anger as well. Witnesses describe a scene of fear as Cordova’s attack turned into a struggle for survival.
Prompt action by nearby drivers eventually subdued Cordova though too late to save Cisneros. Suffolk County Police officers arrived arresting Cordova and securing the weapon.
DA Reflects on Fatal Attack, Victim’s Wife Injured
Reflecting on the tragedy, District Attorney Tierney mourns the loss inflicted on the community. “Unfortunately,” Tierney says, “in addition to witnessing her husband’s death, the victim’s wife suffered her own severe injuries during the attack.” As Cordova’s sentencing approaches, the community prepares to confront the consequences of unchecked violence and the lasting wounds it leaves behind.
