Tyreese Khalia Kejuan Smith Receives Two-Year Term in Federal Prison for Tribal Assault
Tyreese Khalia Kejuan Smith, 23, of Jones County, Mississippi received a two-year prison sentence for assaulting with intent to kidnap on the Choctaw Indian Reservation. The incident occurred in the Bogue Homa community of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Smith admitted guilt during a court appearance on Jan. 30, 2024, after being indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2023. Multiple law enforcement agencies including the FBI’s Safe Trails Task Force were involved in the case, according to the crime report of WDAM 7.
Tyreese Khalia Kejuan Smith to Serve Federal Prison Term, Faces Additional Charges Including Attempted Murder
Prosecutors Kevin J. Payne and Brian K. Burns handled the case. Additionally, a deputy from the Jones County Sheriff’s Department mentioned further charges against Smith for shooting at the same woman’s vehicle in July and these charges include drive-by shooting and attempted murder.
After serving his federal sentence Smith will face the additional charges in Jones County which could mean up to 30 years to life in prison. The case highlights the seriousness of such crimes and the efforts of law enforcement to bring perpetrators to justice.
