The recall movement against Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price advanced Tuesday afternoon, with an organization filing the intent to recall paperwork and the required signatures.
According to The Epoch Times, Save Alameda For Everyone, or SAFE, is a group campaigning for the recall of Alameda County district attorney Pamela Price. It consists of critics, activists, and family members who have been impacted by her policies.
Price, the Alameda County district attorney is currently the center of attention in the intense debate over criminal justice reform and public safety seven months into her position. The Alameda County district attorney ran on a platform that emphasized restorative justice measures such as shorter prison sentences for younger offenders, the elimination of most sentencing enhancements, and holding law enforcement accountable. However, some claim she is too lenient to those violent criminals.
Price, the Alameda County district attorney, has come under fire for how she handled two high-profile murder cases. One was the shooting death of Jasper Wu, a two-year-old boy who was riding in a car with his parents when he was fatally shot in the head. Also the case of Blake Mohs, a loss prevention officer at a Pleasanton Home Depot who got shot and died four months ago during an attempted shoplifting.

Last month, Alameda County District Attorney Price told KPIX reporter Betty Yu that she does not believe in adding sentence enhancements.
According to CBS News, prior to that interview, Price, the Alameda County district attorney said “Anytime that we can divert someone from the criminal justice system, that is a goal, because the criminal justice system has been shown to be racially biased”.
Even if the recall paperwork was submitted on Tuesday, it does not imply the recall will go directly to the ballot. The SAFE
group will have to go through a lengthy process. It begins when the county registrar grants the recall petition. SAFE will then be able to begin collecting signatures, which they anticipate will happen around the beginning of September.
The organization has 160 days to collect signatures from 10% of Alameda County’s registered voters, or approximately 98,000 signatures. All of those signatures must then be confirmed. Only if they collect enough validated signatures will the recall appear on the ballot for voters to decide whether Price, the Alameda County district attorney should remain in office.
