Mayor Adams Secures Funding to Preserve Vital Pre-K and 3-K Programs
Young Families Advocate Successfully for Accessible Preschool Education in New York City
According to ABC 7, funding for New York City‘s pre-K and 3-K programs which help little kids go to school, was in danger. Mayor Eric Adams said they found $514 million to keep supporting these pre-K and 3-K programs. This money was going to run out but now it’s protected so the pre-K and 3-K programs can keep running.
Some City Council members and a group called the New Parents Caucus wanted to make sure every young kid who wants to go to preschool can. They also wanted free child care for younger kids. The mayor listened to them and made sure the money was there to keep the pre-K and 3-K programs going. Now, the money will be used to make the pre-K and 3-K programs even better. They’ll hire more social workers and psychologists to help the kids. Also, they’ll tell parents more about the pre-K and 3-K programs so that more kids can join. This shows that the city cares about giving all kids a good start in school.
