SNAP Interview Requirements to Resume in Mississippi
MDHS Emphasizes the Importance of Eligibility Verification
According to WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi the Department of Human Services (MDHS) said they’ll soon start requiring interviews again for people applying for SNAP benefits. Since June 2023 folks didn’t have to do interviews to get these benefits but starting April 30, 2024 they’ll need to again. MDHS will tell people who are already getting SNAP benefits and need to renew them for May 2024 about the interviews in late April or early May.
Bob Anderson of MDHS stressed the importance of SNAP interviews to ensure eligibility. Starting April 30, 2024 interviews will resume for renewals. New applicants won’t need interviews until May 1. This change aims to maintain SNAP’s effectiveness in Mississippi. For info visit www.mdhs.ms.gov, and for applications go to www.access.ms.gov.
