Identifying the Most Dangerous Cities and Enhancing Safety Measures in North Carolina

Exploring North Carolina’s cities we find out which ones are the most dangerous, according to the recent report of Southwest Journal. Even though it’s a beautiful state with lots to see some places have more crime. Americans living there should think about beefing up security with good cameras to stay safe. It’s a reminder that even in nice places safety is important.

North Carolina’s 5 Most Dangerous Cities

Gastonia

Gastonia, one of North Carolina’s most dangerous cities has a lot of Americans around 81,000. But  the problem is crime rate is super high like 113% higher than the whole country’s average, that means out of 21 Americans one might become a victim of a violent crime. In 2022, there were 726 violent crimes reported including 9 murders, 142 robberies, and 556 assaults.

Rockingham

Rockingham, another of North Carolina’s most dangerous cities may be small with around 9,000 Americans but it’s got big crime issues. The crime rate here is sky-high about 110% more than the state average. Gangs and drugs play a big part in this problem. Last year there were 66 violent crimes reported with 4 murders, 14 robberies, and 42 assaults. And don’t forget about the 410 property crimes including burglaries and car thefts.

Reidsville

Reidsville is a small city with around 14,000 Americans, but it’s still on the list of North Carolina’s most dangerous cities. The crime rate here is way higher than the state average about 124% higher, means there’s a 1 in 17 chance of being a victim of a violent crime. Last year there were 138 violent crimes reported with 6 murders, 12 robberies, and 115 assaults. Property crimes are happening at a rate of 47.25 per 1,000 Americans.

Albemarle

Albemarle is close to the coast and one of the North Carolina’s most dangerous cities for crime. The crime rate here is really high like 149% more than the state average, means 1 in 16 Americans might become victims of crime. Poverty and lack of jobs are part of the problem. Last year there were 156 violent crimes reported with 6 murders, 17 robberies, and 121 assaults.

Lumberton

Lumberton, in Robeson County is known as the Most Dangerous City in North Carolina. With around 19,000 Americans, the crime rate here is through the roof like 435% higher than the state average, means there’s a 1 in 27 chance of being a victim of crime and drugs are a big part of the problem. Last year, there were a lot of property crimes 122.21 per 1,000 Americans and violent crimes is 20.18 per 1,000 people.
