Memphis Shelby Crime Commission displays certain crimes are trending down for the first few months of 2024, but city leaders and the Atlanta Police Foundation are still working to make sure that trend does not change.
Memphis City Council and Greater Memphis Chamber met with the CEO of the Atlanta Police Foundation to talk about crime solutions
The Atlanta Police Foundation creates crime solution strategies for the City of Atlanta and the Atlanta Police Department.
According to Wilkinson, his recommendation would be to create an organization that would be seen as the ultimate public-private partnership for public safety in this city. An organization whose mission is simply stated to create a safer Memphis.
This is something some city councilors are open to bringing to Memphis together with the Atlanta Police Foundation. According to Council Chairman, JB Smiley creating something like this would give us a central focus point so that we can have one strategy to produce results, which is driving down crime in our community.

Atlanta Police Foundation needs significantly more than 500 officers
Creating more diversion programs for youth and bringing in more officers were some of the recommendations the Atlanta Police Foundation gave to the council.
