With over 300,000 children expected to benefit, the initiative aims to support families whose children attend public schools from preschool through 12th grade. Enabled by a Colorado law passed during a special legislative session, the program receives federal funding supplemented by a state contribution. Similar programs are underway in nearly three dozen states this year. Families eligible for Summer EBT include those receiving public benefits like SNAP, Medicaid, or Colorado Works, as well as those with children qualifying for free or reduced-price school meals.
