Settlement Reached in Lawsuit Over Patient Data Breach at Lincare Holdings
Lincare Holdings, a company that makes devices for respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD has agreed to pay $7.25 million for settlement a lawsuit over a leak of patients personal information in 2021. Patients sued the company saying it could have stopped the hack. The lawsuit, called a class action means many people are involved and they will get money from the settlement.
People affected by the leak can get up to $5,090 each from the settlement. But Lincare says it did not do anything wrong. If you want money from the settlement you have to show the court proof of certain expenses like bills for credit monitoring services. The deadline to ask for money is April 15, 2024.
