A Man Charged with Murder for Shooting the Guy who Hit and Killed his Son in North Carolina

A man from North Carolina is charged with murder for fatally shooting another driver after the latter reportedly hit and killed the man’s teenage kid.

Murder Charges to the Man Shooting the Driver of the Truck

According to Fox News, Chad Woods, 41-year-old charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing 39-year-old Jeffrey McKay on Monday, shortly after McKay was allegedly engaged in an accident that ended the life of the 17-year-old son of Woods.

According to police, Woods and his son were returning home after running out of gas when McKay’s Department of Corrections truck collided with Woods’ kid. This is according to an article from ABC 11. The teen was declared dead at the scene, despite McKay’s efforts to stop the truck, and called 911 immediately to report the occurrence. Police said that after pulling a gun and shooting McKay, Woods stole McKay’s truck, left the bodies on the road, and then drove home in the stolen car after dumping the gun into a nearby pond. According to the Person County Sheriff’s Office, McKay was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Families’ Agony of the Dead Teenager

According to Woods’ father, Lawrence Clayborn, “He was just out of it, going off and stuff. He was going, ‘He just killed my son. He killed my son,'” A short distance from the site, at Woods’ house, he was eventually taken into custody. In this case, he is also charged with stealing a motor vehicle. His court date is August 21 and he is now being held in the Person County Detention Center. In the meantime, the teenager’s family is left with deep sorrow.

The teen’s brother, described his brother as a real good person, as ABC11 reported. The guy “wanted to be an IT technician. He was doing, he wanted to be positive in life. He wanted to help people. He was a people person.” Sgt. Kevin Morris of the Person County Sheriff’s Department described the incident as a “first for the agency and told ABC 11 that it is tragic for the families involved.

Morris remarked that the incident was a kind of a first. “Sad situation all around, for all the families. I’ve been to people hit by cars and I’ve been to shootings, but I’ve never had this happen at the same time.”
