Woman from Brookline Faces Animal Cruelty Charges as Two Dogs’ Poor Health Surfaces
A Brookline woman, Mary Sellitto, is facing serious charges of animal cruelty following the distressing discovery of two dogs, one of which was a Golden Retriever puppy named Brooke found in a severely emaciated state in late January. Sellitto, 29, is set to face arraignment next week on two counts of animal cruelty and one count of misleading investigators, as confirmed by MSPCA Law Enforcement. Brooke, upon arrival at MSPCA’s shelter, was described as being in bad shape, prompting immediate rescue efforts. Another dog, also found to be very underweight, was removed from Sellitto’s residence on February 2nd.

After probing into Brooke’s ownership, law enforcement thanked the public for their help and verified that both dogs have been adopted into caring homes. Particularly, Brooke has been permanently adopted by her foster parent, with the adoption process finalized on March 11th. Sellitto is slated for arraignment on March 25th at Brookline District Court, facing potential imprisonment of up to 10 years for the misleading investigators charge, while animal cruelty charges could lead to a maximum sentence of seven years.
