Rookie Deputy Accused of Trading Suboxone for Cash Inside Orleans Parish Jail
According to FOX8 once again trouble has hit Orleans Parish jail. A new recruit named Courtney Wicker has been caught up in a drug smuggling mess. She’s only been on the job for 11 months. Wicker is accused of sneaking illegal drugs Suboxone to an inmate back in December 2023. She took $2,000 for this shady deal. Suboxone is a medicine used for opioid addiction but can be misused.

Orleans Parish Jail Rocked by Deputy’s Arrest and Ongoing Smuggling Probe
Wicker got busted on March 16. She admitted to her part in the crime drug smuggling. She even confessed to holding onto more drugs meant for another inmate. She was going to get $5,000 for this. The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office wasted no time. They arrested Wicker and charged her with serious crimes drug smuggling. If found guilty she could spend up to 10 years in prison. Sheriff Susan Hutson made it clear that the law must be upheld and everyone’s safety matters in the jail. This isn’t the first time a jail guard has been in trouble here. Since November 2022, there have been several arrests for drug smuggling in the Orleans Parish jail. Now authorities are digging deeper. They want to know if the inmates were part of this smuggling ring too. It shows how tough it is for jails to stop corruption and keep things safe from illegal activities inside.
