According to Washington Examiner, Pennsylvania lawmakers are working on making child care more affordable for families. They recently talked about a plan in the House Finance Committee. This plan suggests giving tax breaks to businesses that help pay for their workers’ child care. Representative Liz Hanbridge thinks this plan which is tax break is really important. She says families are having a hard time with money especially women who want to work. This tax breaks plan wants to help parents who work and help businesses find and keep good workers. It also wants to help more families get good child care.

Laura Manion, who leads a business group in Chester County thinks this tax breaks plan could help a lot of people. Many workers can’t pay for child care and businesses want to help them. But some people worry that the tax breaks plan might not help enough families. Dr. Lesley Spina, who runs a preschool says good child care is really important for families and for the community. She thinks the tax breaks plan is a good start but there are still more things to do to make sure everyone can get good child care. Even though the tax breaks plan is a step in the right direction some people say it might not fix all the problems. Diane Barber who works with child care centers says many families still can’t find good child care or afford it. There are lots of families waiting for child care spots and many centers don’t have enough workers. Everyone agrees that more needs to be done to make sure all families can find and afford good child care in Pennsylvania.
