However, Rodriguez, who doesn’t have a Social Security number faced hurdles even creating an online account, a vital first step. With deadlines looming and technical issues plaguing the system Rodriguez and her son, Andre Pintor, are feeling stressed and uncertain about their college prospects.

The updated FAFSA system was meant to simplify the application process by integrating IRS data but it has led to glitches and delays. Many families, like Rodriguez have encountered difficulties with some unable to even access the website initially.

FAFSA System Failures Compound Financial Worries for Families, Leaving Students’ College Futures in Limbo

Elizabeth Ortiz, another parent facing challenges with the FAFSA has spent over three months seeking assistance. Despite her son being a U.S. citizen Ortiz a resident of Juarez Mexico has struggled to complete the form. The delays have left her worried about the financial burden of sending her son to a four year university highlighting the frustration and uncertainty many families are experiencing due to the FAFSA system’s failures.
