Community Support Grows: Solidarity with Dembele
According to NHPR a former cop Aaron Goodwin got arrested for assault a Black business leader at Mamadou Dembele. The attack happened last November in downtown Portsmouth. People got together to support Dembele who said a white person hurt him. Goodwin along with two others from Maryland Kevin and Shannon Goodwin are includes arrested for assault and got charged for their involvement. The New Hampshire State Police are leading the investigation to make sure there are no problems.

Civil Rights Unit’s Vigilance: Heightened Scrutiny on Racism
The New Hampshire Attorney, General Office’s Civil Rights Unit is taking this arrest for assault seriously. It’s making people talk about racism in the state. Dembele’s lawyer Robin Melone is glad Goodwin got arrested for assault. Goodwin says the attack wasn’t about race but Dembele and others say otherwise. The incident shows the challenges faced by people of color in New Hampshire. Goodwin used to work for the Portsmouth police but got fired before. Now he’s waiting for his court date on April 22. Dembele got hurt in the attack and now he needs a leg brace and cane. The investigation is still going on and police are trying to catch Kevin and Shannon Goodwin. Everyone involved will be held accountable for what happened.
