Americans Given Opportunity to Recover Unreceived Stimulus Checks Through Tax Returns
IRS Offers Chance to Claim Recovery Rebate Credits on Tax Returns
Many people in America got stimulus checks called Economic Impact Payments during the pandemic. But some didn’t get the full amount or missed out. Now, they have a chance to claim the money they missed on their tax return for 2020 or 2021. These payments called Recovery Rebate Credits, should have been given out already. The IRS says people have until May 17, 2024 to claim them for 2020 and until April 15, 2025, for 2021.

IRS Urges Timely Tax Filing for Eligibility to Receive COVID-19 Relief Rebates
To get these rebates people need to file a tax return even if they didn’t earn much or didn’t have a job. For 2020, individuals might get $1,200 and if married they might receive $2,400. They could also get $500 for each child they had in 2020. In 2021, individuals might get $600. These rebates are meant to help people who struggled financially during the pandemic. By claiming what they’re owed the IRS wants to make sure people get the help they need to deal with the financial effects of COVID-19. It’s important for people to file their tax returns on time to get these rebates and the relief they deserve.
