Maryland Department Offers Online Applications for Homeowners and Renters Tax Credits
BAYNET – The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation homeowners and renters can now apply for the 2024 Homeowners’ and Renters’ Tax Credit programs online announced by the Department of Assessments and Taxation. All eligible residents to apply before the October 1, 2024 deadline. The online tax credit application system provides a quick and easy way to determine eligibility and submit applications ensuring efficient service to customers. The Homeowners Property Tax Credit Program offers tax relief by limiting property taxes based on income for eligible homeowners. Applications approved by April 15 will reflect on the July tax bill while those approved by October 1 will receive refunds if taxes were already paid.

Department Encourages Eligible Homeowners and Renters to Apply for Tax Credits and Offers Homestead Tax Credit Option
Marylanders who received tax credits in 2023 will automatically receive a complimentary 2024 application. To determine eligibility and download applications residents can visit the departments online tax credit system or the provided website link. Additionally, homeowners may be eligible for the Homestead Tax Credit to limit taxable assessment increases. The department encourages all eligible homeowners and renters to submit applications by the deadline offering timely reminders through email distribution lists.
