Johny Johnson Conviction of the 2022 Murder Case, Faces Several Charges

Johny Johnson conviction of the 2022 murder case with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, and one count of tampering with physical evidence, a jury in Anchorage today found 39-year-old Johnny Brandon Lee Johnson pleads guilty.

A man that was previously identified by Anchorage police as a “person of interest” in a homicide was arrested Wednesday morning in Anchorage.

Johny Johnson Conviction of the 2022 Murder Case Trial

According to the news released by The Greatest State of Alaska, the evidence at trial established that Johnson shared a home at 2642 Cottonwood Street in Anchorage with 69-year-old Alan Wagers. Johnson and Mr. Wagers argued verbally over another person being at the house on January 18, 2022. After that, Johnson went to his room to get a hatchet and attacked Mr. Wagers in his living room. Several blows were delivered to Mr. Wagers’ head, face, right arm, and right hand. Johnson ran away and wasn’t seen again until March 2022. Despite suffering severe injuries, Mr. Wagers managed to survive for 40 days before succumbing to his wounds. Johny Johnson was convited and now facing several charges.

Johnson was out on parole at the time of the murder for a first-degree assault from a 2006 incident in which he gravely hurt three persons. The trial was presided over by Superior Court Judge Catherine Easter. The verdict is scheduled for January 19, 2024. Johnson faces 99 years in prison if proven guilty of the killings, and five years in prison if found guilty of tampering with evidence. The Alaska Department of Corrections is holding Johnson without posting a bond. The Anchorage Police Department’s Robbery-Assault and Homicide Units investigated this crime.
