Tom Vilsack Assures Support for Families Affected by Storms and Power Cuts
According to U.S Department of Agriculture, after the big storms and power cuts in California starting on January 21, 2024 the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) said they’ll help Americans with little money to recover and around 4,500 families struggling with money might get extra help through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP). The head of the USDA Tom Vilsack promised to make sure families hit by the storms can get the D-SNAP knowing it’s tough even after the storms pass.

D-SNAP Programs for Storm-Affected Communities
In the storm-affected areas of California families can receive one month’s worth of food assistance through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) which can be used in-store and online. Additionally the USDA will replace food aid lost during power cuts and streamline reporting processes for affected individuals. These measures along with adjustments to meal programs defines the USDA‘s commitment to ensuring access to enough food during difficult times.
