KY Lawmaker Pushes for One-Time Cash Bonus to Support Teachers and Staff – Boosting Educators!

Kentucky Lawmaker Proposes One-Time Cash Bonus for School Workers – House Bill 694

Chris Fugate’s Bill Aims to Push One-Time Cash Bonus to Support Teachers and Staff –Addressing Financial Struggles

According to Yahoo News, Kentucky’s Republican State Representative Chris Fugate introduced House Bill 694 to help teachers, principals and other school workers with money problems. The House Bill 694 suggests giving one-time cash bonus to support teachers and staff over the next two years. Teachers and principals would get $2,000 each year while other staff would receive $1,000 but school bosses wouldn’t be eligible. Fugate thinks this is important especially for rural schools that are struggling because they have fewer students. He wants to give $153 million each year to help with this.

Kentucky Lawmakers Unite Behind House Bill 694 for Short-Term Aid to Education

Around 20 other lawmakers agree to one-time cash bonus to support teachers and staff. Fugate sees it as a short-term solution to help schools while they figure out better ways to get money especially for rural areas where the population is shrinking. However some Kentuckians don’t think the one-time cash bonus to support teachers and staff will solve bigger problems like low salaries and finding and keeping good teachers. Governor Andy Beshear promised an 11% raise for all school workers but this House Bill 694 is a bit different. It shows that Kentucky is trying to help teachers even if opinions on how to do it differ.
