On February 15, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office made a Facebook post about a traffic stop where a K-9 unit discovered pounds of methamphetamine hidden in boxes of dog treats. The incident occurred when a sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle driven by Angelina Gutierrez, 41, for a misdemeanor arrest warrant out of Mendocino County.

During the traffic stop, the deputy learned that there was a methamphetamine pipe in the vehicle. The deputy and his K-9 then conducted a sniff of the vehicle, suspecting narcotics. The K-9 alerted the deputy to dog treat boxes inside the vehicle, which were found to contain packages of methamphetamine. The deputy also found additional packages of methamphetamine inside a cat litter box.

In total, they found ten bags of methamphetamine weighing ten pounds. Residents commended the K-9’s efforts in the Facebook post’s comment section.
