Gianforte Disagree to Statewide Sales Montana Tax for Property Tax Issue
Task Force to Find Better Solutions for Homeowners Without Adding More Taxes
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is serious about not adding a statewide sales tax to address rising property taxes according to Daily Montanan. At the first meeting of his new property tax task force he made it clear that protecting people from losing their homes because of high property taxes is a big priority. He said no to a statewide sales tax right from the start showing he’s looking for other solutions to help homeowners. People have talked about adding a statewide sales tax in Montana to bring in more money for the government and ease other taxes. But Gianforte doesn’t want to go that route. He believes there are other ways to find money without putting more taxes on people. The task force will spend the next few months figuring out how to change the tax system to make it fairer for homeowners while still making sure the government has enough money to provide services like schools and roads.
