Last Friday, an event was held in Austin to mark the beginning of the tax season and celebrate the availability of free tax preparation assistance for Central Texans. The event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Foundation Communities, Austin Community College District (ACC), U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin), and Austin City Council Member Chito Vela.
The purpose of the event was to expand free tax preparation services for Central Texas residents and provide ACC students with access to these services. During the event, organizers encouraged Central Texans to file their taxes for free with Foundation Communities to ensure maximum refunds and to claim all eligible tax credits.
Organizers explained that when more families access tax credits and refunds, they have additional money to spend, which has an important impact on the local economy. During the event, speakers provided attendees with information on how to sign up for help in filing taxes, the benefits of doing it now, and how to ensure that they receive all obtainable funds when filing their taxes during the 2024 season.
This event was an excellent opportunity for Central Texans to learn about free tax preparation services available to them and to take advantage of these services to maximize their tax refunds.
