United Way Suncoast prepares for its annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Initiative (VITA) to help qualified working families get tax benefits. This year, homeowners earning $79,000 or less can receive free tax preparation online or at two Tax-A-Thon events.
First Tax-A-Thon Event on February 10th
Residents can mark their calendars for the first Tax-A-Thon on Saturday, February 10th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties at 3100 Fruitville Road.
At this event, United Way Suncoast will deploy its IRS-trained VITA volunteers to assist individuals with tax preparation while offering insights into additional financial stability services available.
United Way Suncoast emphasizes its commitment to helping individuals and families maximize tax refunds and credits while saving on preparation fees. Last year alone, the organization and its partners secured a remarkable $13.8 million in refunds, tax credits, and savings for the five-county service area, including $1.5 million specifically for Sarasota, Manatee, and DeSoto counties.

March 30th Event in Arcadia
United Way Suncoast will host the DeSoto Tax Action Day at the All Faiths Food Bank Resource Center at 1021 E. Oak St. in Arcadia on Saturday, March 30th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. DeSoto County and nearby residents can take advantage of this opportunity to get professional tax preparation help and learn about financial stability services.
