Last-Minute Plea Deal: Man Sentenced to 49 Years for Brutal Bosque Trail Assault

Reginald Hall, convicted of raping and stabbing a woman on a popular bosque trail in Albuquerque, has been sentenced to 49 years in prison following a last-minute plea deal. The judge, as part of the agreement, suspended 19 years on the condition that Hall completes five years of probation upon release.

The survivor of the brutal attack, Virginia Dickson, owes her life to witnesses who found her and provided assistance. Hall’s trial was in progress when he opted for the last-minute plea deal, admitting guilt to two counts of rape, three counts of aggravated battery, and one count of animal cruelty.

During the court proceedings on Wednesday, Dickson, who was walking her dog on the bosque trail during the assault, addressed Hall with empathy, stating, “I don’t know you, I never knew you, but I feel really bad for you. I hope that someday you will be guided to make different choices in your life so that you can find peace. Peace that will guide you, because you do have more of a life to live. And I hope that you can find that peace that will take you to better places.”
