Grand Opening Attended by Prominent Leaders Marks a Milestone for Community Development

The H3C complex in the 1300 block of Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard reflects progress with 192 units.

This unique construction addresses Central City inhabitants’ requirements by dedicating 100 flats to elderly folks and the rest to affordable family housing. On Friday, January 19, New Orleans Councilmember At-Large Helena Moreno, Gulf Coast Housing President Kathy Laborde, DePaul Community Health Centers President Dr. Michael Griffin, and Aetna Better Health CEO Jess Hall attended the grand opening event.

A DePaul Community Health Center is central to the H3C complex. This healthcare center will provide crucial services to residents and the community.

H3C Complex Backed by $27 Million from Diverse Stakeholders

Jess Hall stressed the project’s focus on socioeconomic determinants of health and the importance of secure, affordable housing in community well-being. Aetna, AMCREF Community Capital, Belle Reve, Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas, Finance New Orleans, Housing Authority of New Orleans, Louisiana Housing Corporation, Louisiana Office of Community Development, New Orleans Office of Community Development, R4 Capital Funding, and US Bank invested $27 million in the development.

The H3C complex represents affordable housing progress and a collective effort to improve Central City’s health. The grand opening represents a milestone in Louisiana’s health equality effort, demonstrating a comprehensive community development strategy.
