Tacoma Bagel Store owner Jacob Carter, 32 years old, was shot and killed in New Orleans while vacationing with his spouse, Daniel Blagovich. The pair established Howdy Bagel on South Tacoma Way in May.
16-Year-Old Arrested in Murder
A 16-year-old was arrested for Carter’s murder in New Orleans. On January 5, investigators found Carter with at least one gunshot wound near the French Quarter, and he died at the scene.
The neighborhood misses Carter, who was a lovely and kind man. In an Instagram and GoFundMe post, the company expressed how Carter touched everyone. The tragedy occurred near Bourbon and Kerlerec streets, a neighborhood worry owing to lighting concerns.
After release from Jefferson Parish on unrelated charges, the 16-year-old suspect will be investigated for second-degree murder in Orleans Parish. The arrest gives bereaved people hope for justice.

Community Support Soars: Over $250,000 Raised
After the incident, a GoFundMe campaign generated almost $250,000 to cover Howdy Bagel’s interim shutdown and staff costs. The family also has a Jacob Carter memorial webpage.
Carter is remembered for his business and community work, according to colleagues and fans. Carter contributed to a close-knit community beyond his bagel store.
