Warren was sentenced after pleading guilty to malice murder, necrophilia, concealing a death, and evidence tampering, according to the district attorney’s office.
In August 2023, Jonathan Alexander Warren and Katelyn Goble were arrested amid increased search efforts for Bauer, who disappeared two weeks after moving from South Dakota to Georgia in February 2016. Warren received a life sentence, but Katelyn Goble, the second suspect, is still indicted.
In July 2023, law enforcement expanded searches on a Newton County property based on fresh evidence, reviving the troubling case. This critical revelation prompted detectives to reopen Bauer’s disappearance after years.
